Windows 10 activation is quick and straightforward. Even though Windows 10 reached end of support in October 2025, existing activated installations keep working normally.

If Settings is unresponsive, use an elevated Command Prompt:
03Edition mismatch
If Windows installed the Home edition but your key is for Pro, use the generic upgrade key W269N-WFGWX-YVC9B-4J6C9-T83GX to switch to Pro first, then enter your real key.
04Common errors
Error 0xC004F050 usually means the key does not match the installed edition; 0xC004C060 means an activation conflict. Both are covered in our activation error guide.
