Activation errors almost always come from one of three causes: the key doesn’t match the installed edition, the key was already used elsewhere, or Windows has a stale activation state. Here is how to fix each one.
01Error 0xC004F050 — invalid or mismatched key
The key does not match the Windows edition you installed. For example, a Windows 11 Pro key entered on a Home installation.
02Error 0xC004C060 — blocked key or activation conflict
03Error 0xC004F074 — activation server unreachable
Usually a network or clock problem. Check that the date and time are correct, switch networks if needed, and retry slmgr /ato.
04Error 0x803F7001 — key already in use
The key is linked to another device. If you replaced hardware, run the Activation Troubleshooter in Settings > System > Activation and select “I changed hardware recently”.
If none of these steps work, contact our support team — we can verify the key and issue a replacement where appropriate.
